Declaration of Intent

WHEREAS, the City of Cincinnati and the City of Munich represented by their Mayors solemnly pledged on September 18, 1989 in the spirit of freedom, to maintain a lasting relationship with each other, to support and deepen the mutual exchange in all the fields, to further strengthen the ties of friendship, and to serve the cause of peace and progress of nations in the true spirit of cooperation; and

WHEREAS, the City of Cincinnati and the Munich Sister Cities Association have been working diligently to recruit Hofbräu München to locate a Hofbräuhaus and beer garden in the City of Cincinnati; and

WHEREAS, Hofbräu München has honored the City with being the first announced and most favorite location in North America for the construction of a Hofbräuhaus restaurant and beer garden; and

WHEREAS, Hofbräu München owns and operates the world-renowned original and authentic Hofbräuhaus beer garden, celebrating over 400 years of continued brewing; and

WHEREAS, the location of such a facility in the City of Cincinnati will continue to maintain a lasting relationship between the cities of Munich and Cincinnati and will further strengthen the ties of friendship; and

WHEREAS, the inauguration of the Delta Munich-Cincinnati flight demonstrates the strong economic bond that exists between the cities of Munich and Cincinnati;

THEREFORE, let it be resolved that the City of Cincinnati in cooperation with the Munich Sister Cities Association will use its best efforts to locate a Hofbräuhaus and beer garden in the City of Cincinnati.
