The Munich Sister City Association has been very active throughout the past year,
most recently being heavily involved in the activities over the "Oktoberfest" season.
The exchange programs have continued to flourish, involving teachers, lawyers and high
school students. Reports of these activities may be found within the web site.
The intern program has accommodated individuals for work experiences in various
governmental departments of the City of Cincinnati, as well as other businesses, including
A.M. Kinney, Inc. Architects & Engineers, and Cinergy.
An additional event that highlighted the ongoing dynamic relationship between Cincinnati
and Munich entailed installation of the Cincinnati corporate city sign in Hof, Germany.
Ute and Hans Päpke carried the sign over and delivered it to Mayor Ude of Munich. We
appreciate the efforts of Charlie and Barbara Boersig who documented the installation
of the sign in the "Fernweh" Park and brought back a press kit describing the event.
This type of activity serves to highlight the partnership of our two sister cities.
Let me conclude this greeting with a "thank you" to all the individuals who worked hard on
behalf of the MSCA over the part year. A special thanks to Bob Stevie and Art Pfefferkorn
for representing the interests of our Association at the SCA meetings. It remains
important that the objectives of the MSCA are heard loud and clear at the level of
Cincinnati City government. I would also like to thank all of the individuals including
officers and committee chairs of our Association who have participated in the smooth
operation of our organization throughout the year. It continues to be a pleasure to serve
as the President of the very active Association.
Sincerely yours,
